Fireman Nicky’s visit to Railway Street Nursery School
Fireman Nicky came to visit. He explained that his job was to fight fires and rescue people. We listened as Nicky told how what to do in an emergency and that it is important to get away from fire and stay away until help comes. Nicky also told us how sometimes he rescues animals who are stuck or hurt, helps to drain floods and how he rescues people who are stuck in their vehicles. The fire services are really busy people!!
Nicky showed us his fire fighting clothing and we discovered how heavy and thick it is and how it keeps him safe in a fire. It was good fun trying on the fire helmet which was also heavy. Lots of boys and girls decided they might like to work in the fire services and help people when they grow up!
